Each month, SHIELD delivers essential groceries to elderly and disabled adults who struggle to afford food. Bags include shelf-stable pantry items, fresh produce (when available), and hygiene products.

Many of our clients face urgent, unexpected needs that can quickly spiral into crisis whether it's a co-pay they can’t afford, a bus fare to a medical appointment, or the cost of a walker after a fall. SHIELD provides limited emergency financial assistance to help cover essential expenses such as:

• Prescription medications 
• Transportation (PACE car, paratransit, or gas cards) 
• Small durable medical equipment (canes, walkers, shower chairs)

✔ Requires basic documentation or provider verification
✔ Funded entirely by community donations

Our goal is to remove small but dangerous barriers to safety, stability, and care.

Through our partnership with Mind and Body Wellness, PLLC in Tinley Park, clients can access:

• Counseling referrals
• Psychiatric evaluation support
• Emotional check-in calls for isolated individuals

This service helps clients manage depression, anxiety, grief, and cognitive concerns, all with compassion and respect.
